FAGIA REMAINS is an instrumental electronic music album made from percussion samples of samba, funk-br and idm techno, where Uirá dos Reis leaves the more abstract music to focus on compositions that explore the roots of black music in these rhythms/styles, in a very personal way, playing with the timbres, modifying the sounds using many effects, layered percussions and placing them in a panoramic way in search of some organicity and strangeness/beauty. A work of months that is the result of two years of research. Since 2020, Uirá has been investigating composition based on percussion, a key element for this work, in addition to old synthesizers, sound texture and mixing. Almost 30 songs arrived before the seven that make up the album, which started doing it in March 2022.
Furthermore, FAGIA REMAINS is the artist's first album under his own name; previous albums were signed as URO. "A songs album and a dance album," he tells us, "with a bit of melancholy and still experimental." "I tried to put a voice to this one, but I couldn't," he continues. “What I managed to do was resurrect my 'untouched' guitar in one of the songs, 'A Décima Morte de URO', where I 'untouched it', cut it/paste it, overlayed it, using it more as a sound sample than as an instrument – trying to do it organically, as like I did with the percussions”.
